Mavic Open Pro wheelset

  

Popular 700c light touring, training or fast commuter bike wheelset. Rims are the well established Mavic Open Pro made from Maxtal, an alloy that is lighter and stiffer than the more common 6106 aluminium alloy. Black rim finish (grey CD finish available as an option). Suitable for tyre sizes between 19mm and 28mm. 6.5mm valve hole suitable for Presta valve tubes.

Hubs are Novatec A171/F172 with a standard 100mm wide front hub and 130mm wide rear hub. Compatible with 11 speed cassettes and 8/9/10 speed cassettes with the included spacer. The Novatec hubs have quality sealed bearings which are easily replaced with commonly available parts when needed. The 36 spokes are high quality Belgian made Sapim Race 2.0/1.8/2.0 double butted stainless steel in silver. Double butted spokes are both lighter and stronger for their diameter than standard plain gauge spokes. Made from 100% stainless steel and fastened with solid brass nipples. The wheels are built using a 3x (3 cross) pattern which is the best compromise for strength without excess weight. All our wheels are handbuilt to order to the same high standards. Race wheels are true to +or- 0.1mm and spokes uniformly tensioned to within 5% a side.

You will find cheaper wheelsets available on the web which use this rim and hub but this is usually achieved by using inferior (and much cheaper) unbranded Far Eastern spokes. These wheels are also suitable for fast commuting 700c wheels.
