Mavic Open Pro UST wider, stiffer and tubeless ready

  
Brand new wheels built from entirely European products. Rims from France, hubs from Italy and spokes from Belgium. The rims are the latest rim design from Mavic. The new incarnation of the classic and immensely popular Open Pro rim.

Wider, stiffer and slightly lighter than the original, it is also designed for use with the latest tubeless road tyres. Choice of 32/32 spokes (as pictured) or a lighter build with 24/28 spokes. These new rims are 22mm wide externally and 19mm internally (the'classic' Open Pro is 19mm and 13mm respectively) and nice and light at around 430g.

Recommended tyre width is 28mm - 42mm but could easily be used with tubeless 25mm tyres as long as the max rim pressure of 6 bar/89psi isn't exceeded. Hubs are Miche Primato in black. Road bike standard 100mm wide front hub and 130mm wide rear hub. Suitable for Shimano/SRAM 11 speed cassettes and 8/9/10 cassettes with the supplied spacers. Campagnolo freehubs available as an option.

Miche hubs have a strong steel axle, large sealed bearings and are fully serviceable. There is also the option of lighter Novatec hubs and heavier Shimano 105. The 32 spokes are high quality Belgian made Sapim Race 2.0/1.8/2.0 double butted stainless steel in silver. Made from 100% stainless steel and fastened with solid brass nipples. The 32/32 spoke wheels are built using a 3x (3 cross) pattern which is the best compromise for strength without excess weight and the 24/28 spoke set is radial front and 2x rear lacing. Total 32/32 wheelset weight is a very respectable 1750g. The wheels pictured have the optional black D-Light spokes and black alloy nipples and weigh a nifty 1640g. The 24/28 spoke set is 1635g with standard spokes and nipples but could be as low as 1410g with the lightest hubs and spokes. Novatec A291SL/F482 extra light hubs (144g lighter + 24/28 spokes only) -same cost. All our wheels are handbuilt to order to the same high standards. Race wheels are true to +or- 0.2mm and spokes uniformly tensioned to within 5% a side. You will find cheaper wheelsets available on the web which use this rim and hub but this is usually achieved by using inferior (and much cheaper) unbranded Far Eastern spokes.
